Buttons or widgets missing after an update

Almost always the browser keeping the old files, not a broken install.

  1. Do a hard refresh

Press Ctrl Shift R (Windows, Linux) or Cmd Shift R (Mac). Most of the time the buttons come straight back.

How it looks: a Pixaroma node shows as an empty box with no buttons or controls, and the Pixaroma buttons are missing from the top bar. After the refresh the node has its buttons again.

  2. Still missing? Reload with the cache off

    1. Press F12 to open the developer tools.
    2. Click the Network tab and tick Disable cache.
    3. Keep the tools open and refresh the page (Ctrl Shift R).
    4. Once the buttons are back, press F12 again to close it.

Why this happens: the browser saves the code that draws each node so the page loads faster. After an update that saved copy is out of date until you force a clean reload.
